Even America's lowly bureaucrats are fit to run most countries better than they are

An article in The Economist details the AU led peacekeeping force in Somalia's efforts to push Islamist insurgents out of the city of Mogadishu. Of particular note:
The effort to provide better services is led by Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, a former employee of the New York state transportation department who was recently appointed prime minister. He spends most of his time in a rudimentary office trying to avoid assassination. “I don’t want to sound Republican, but we have the smallest government,” he says. Imagine what they could do if they had, say, the mayor of Cleveland.

Lack of updates

Partly as a result of finals, partly as a result of apathy, partly as a result of the recognition that there actually are people who read this, I've been remiss with updates.

We'll see how the break turns out for updating this site. Right now, it looks marginally promising.
